The Relief of Leiden was one of the first successes in a long struggle that led to the establishment of the Dutch Republic. Life in the Republic was ruled by principles like liberality, rule of law, freedom of press and of religion. Persecuted people, like the Pilgrims, were welcome in the Netherlands. Looking back we can say that the Pilgrims were an essential link in the formation of American society.
The International Members aims to offer support to the 3 October Society for the national and international celebration of 1574. Those who feel connected with the Relief of Leiden are invited to become an International member of the 3 October Society.
